Iraola Enjoys Winning Return to Vitality Stadium with Narrow Liverpool Victory

Both sides entered the game in high spirits after encouraging midweek victories. Liverpool finally broke the deadlock just before the hour mark. Cody Gakpo’s cross from the right caused confusion at the near post as Florian Wirtz and a Bournemouth defender challenged for the ball. It bounced perfectly into the path of Isak, who arrived at the right moment to finish from close range.

Bournemouth pushed for an equaliser, but their final passes repeatedly lacked precision. Liverpool defended with discipline and recorded their third consecutive Premier League clean sheet.

The win was only Liverpool’s third in 10 away matches this season, but two of those victories have come under Iraola. Bournemouth, meanwhile, saw their impressive home unbeaten run come to an end, having not lost at the Vitality Stadium since Arsenal’s visit in January.
