De Zerbi insists Spurs will win more once they find their rhythm

Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi is confident his side will score more goals and win more matches once they find a consistent rhythm, despite Tuesday’s 3-1 League Cup defeat to Liverpool extending their winless run to four games.

The north London club finished just two points above the relegation zone last season and are still without a victory in the new Premier League campaign, having collected only two points from their opening four matches.

“We are suffering a lot because results are our whole life. When we lose, we feel regret, sadness, disappointment and frustration,” De Zerbi told Spurs’ official website after the third-round defeat.

“It is difficult, but this is only the first stage—the first part of this new project.”

De Zerbi took charge in March and has received significant support in the transfer market, with the club spending more than £300 million ($404 million) to sign Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mykhailo Mudryk.

“I think that once everything clicks... but that click is not a psychological issue, because today we showed the right mentality, the right attitude and we fought until the end of the match,” the manager added.

“I believe we will win many games and score many goals.”

Spurs will host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
