Lens score twice in stoppage time to stun 10-man Slavia Prague

The result gave Lens their first away win in European competition since September 2005. Slavia, meanwhile, saw their winless run in major UEFA competition stretch to 16 matches, with five draws and 11 defeats.

Slavia started with real energy and should have taken the lead inside 30 seconds. Danijel Sturm was played through by a sharp pass that split the Lens defence, but the 27-year-old dragged his effort wide from close range.

Sturm then turned creator, crossing for Stepan Chaloupek, who also failed to hit the target with a free header.

Lens slowly grew into the match. Samuel Isife tested Robin Risser with an ambitious attempt from near the halfway line, and Risser had to stay alert again to deal with another dangerous Sturm delivery.

The home side had the better of the early play but could not make it count. Lens ended the first half strongly. Former Slavia forward Abdallah Sima should have scored against his old club after Florian Thauvin found him in space, but he could not finish the chance.

Matthieu Udol then had two efforts from the same corner, but Jakub Markovic saved both his header and the follow-up. At the other end, Emmanuel Ayaosi had the ball in the net for Slavia, only for the referee to spot handball before the finish.

Thauvin forced Markovic into a save from distance before half-time, but the match stayed goalless.

The second half began in chaos. Slavia substitute Mikulas Konecny was sent off after a lengthy VAR review for denying a clear scoring opportunity. Thauvin almost punished the red card immediately with a dangerous free-kick.

Instead, Slavia took the lead. Sturm fired an excellent shot into the top corner, sending the home crowd into celebration.

Lens pushed hard for an equaliser. Tomas Vlcek cleared Thauvin's effort off the line, while substitute Odsonne Edouard headed straight at Markovic. The pressure finally paid off when Sima found the net against his former side.

But Slavia struck again. Sturm reacted in a crowded penalty area after a free-kick and finished cleanly to put the hosts back in front.

Their lead lasted only a few minutes. In the 91st minute, Thauvin headed past Markovic to make it 2-2. Then, with the match heading toward a draw, Aguilar collected the ball on the edge of the area and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.

Slavia had battled hard with 10 men and twice led the match, but the final minutes were brutal. Lens leave Prague with an extraordinary win and a result that could give their European campaign real momentum.
