What's new in Brazilian Serie A 2026?
Coritiba, Athletico Paranaense, Chapecoense and Remo have joined the Brazilian Serie A after earning promotion from Série B. They replace Ceará, Fortaleza, Juventude and Sport, who were relegated at the end of the 2025 campaign. Remo's return is particularly notable, with the club returning to Brazil's top division after a 32-year absence.
The 2026 season also features a significant calendar change. The Brasileirão began on January 28 and is scheduled to finish on December 2, rather than following the traditional May-to-December structure. The change was made to accommodate the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Brazilian domestic season adjusted around the international calendar.
The competition retains its 20-team round-robin format, with every club playing 38 matches across the season.
