Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick to help Man City eliminate Liverpool from the FA Cup.
After lifting the Carabao Cup two weeks ago, Man City's quick return to cup action seems to suit them, but it was Liverpool who adapted more quickly in this quarter-final.

Liverpool created the first major chance of the match in familiar circumstances, with a 80-yard pass from Giorgi Mamardashvili creating space for Mohamed Salah, but a decisive tackle from Abdukodir Khusanov prevented the Egyptian player from taking a clear shot at goal.
Another good opportunity came to Hugo Ekitike when Rodri miscontrolled the ball on the edge of the penalty area, creating an opportunity for him, but once again, the chance slipped away when he shot the ball over the crossbar.
Despite creating many chances in the first half, Man City were the team to take the lead. Liverpool contributed significantly to that goal, particularly Virgil van Dijk, who made a clumsy foul in the penalty area, causing Nico O'Reilly to fall to the ground.

Michael Oliver did not take part in the penalty shootout, and Haaland was not afraid to take the penalty from around 12 yards, fooling the goalkeeper Mamardashvili.
This was Haaland's first of two quickfire goals, as he deftly escaped his marker in the box to head home after a precise cross from Antoine Semenyo, putting City two goals ahead at half-time.
Arne Slot was furious and brought his Liverpool team out for the second half much earlier than Man City, and his mood worsened when the home team scored a third goal just five minutes after the restart.
This time, Semenyo was the one to score, breaking away from the defence to face the goal after a pass from Rayan Cherki, and lifting the ball over the onrushing Mamardashvili to complete a hat-trick for Man City in just 14 minutes and 9 seconds.

Things got even better for Pep Guardiola's team as they continued to dominate, with Haaland completing his 28^(th) hat-trick by finishing from close range after O'Reilly's reverse pass.
Just when Liverpool thought things couldn't get any worse, Salah missed a penalty, which was saved by James Trafford after Matheus Nunes fouled Ekitike in the box. From then on, the match was effectively over, with the two teams merely going through the motions for the final 20 minutes of a game that had already been decided.
Man City can now plan their swift return to Wembley, as they are just one step away from reaching the FA Cup final for the fourth consecutive time. Meanwhile, Liverpool have just a few days to recover from their defeat, as they need to prepare for their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
