Harry Maguire has signed a contract extension with Manchester United until 2027.

The 33-year-old England international has made 266 appearances since joining United in 2019 for £80 million (US$106 million), a record fee for a defender at the time, helping them win the FA Cup and League Cup.

"To be a Manchester United player is the ultimate honour," Maguire declared. “I'm thrilled to continue my journey with this incredible club for at least eight more seasons, playing in front of our special fans and creating more unforgettable moments together.”

Maguire has regained his place in the team under interim manager Michael Carrick after a difficult period in which he lost the captaincy and his regular starting position, helping the team climb to third in the league table.

"Harry has shown the spirit and resilience required to play for Manchester United," said United's director of football, Jason Wilcox. "He is a model professional, providing invaluable leadership to our young and ambitious squad."
